We are very proud of our new laboratory! It took over a year in planning and it has been designed to provide the best environment for our work!
The new laboratory covers an area of 45m2 and has been ergonomically designed to work in conjunction with the 2 adjacent theatres.
The conditions and the equipment housed conform to the European directive on tissue and cell cultures 2004/23/EC and the Greek National regulations ΠΔ 26/2008.
To be more specific the air quality in the lab (with entry only by air lock and air filtration with Hepa filters and the use of special clothing) is higher than that is required by law!
The wall are contructed from Corain© (Du Pont) a non-porous material favored for its anti-bacterial properties.
Special care was taken when choosing paints and adhesives in the making of the laboratory. Non toxic, Odourless and non-volotile chemical were used.
All laboratory furniture is stainless steel and floors and walls are devoid of tight, hard to clean corners, plugs and tubing.
Also to aid all the techniques involved with in vitro fertilization, the room temperature is strictly controlled and lighting levels kept low.
Aseptic conditions are accessed and controlled by frequent microbiological testing of all surfaces.
Safety and security is a high priority and therefore: access to the laboratories and cryo-biology storage facility are by authorized personnel only by the use of a coded password.
Low level alarms for liquid nitrogen, oxygen and CO2 assure a constant monitoring system of storage facilities.
All laboratory equipment is assured constant electric supply by being connected to a fail-safe electric generator and/ or UPS constant supply network.
